  1. I was born in the U.S. and emigrated to Australia in 1985 because I fell in love with an Aussie bloke. No we aren’t still together – but I am still living in Australia.
  2. I knew next to nothing about Australia when I came, except that I liked Australian movies.
  3. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be an artist, but didn’t do it until I was thirty because I thought I wasn’t creative enough.
  4. I am a recovering perfectionist who teaches creativity because I know one of the main blocks to creativity is perfectionism.
  5. My first creative job was as a cookie decorator, similar to a cake decorator. We sold giant cookies that people bought instead of birthday cakes. It was fun, but I ate way too much cookie dough.
  6. I was a sign writer for a few years. That was also fun, but the lead in the paint used to get me stoned – not in a nice way either.
  7. I once killed a deadly snake using only a large kitchen knife.  I also happened to be naked at the time (it was in my bedroom.) I don’t recommend it, a shovel would be safer.
  8. In spite of number 7, I am not one to take physical risks.
  9. In spite of number 8 and not being an especially talented driver, I had a motorbike for a while.
  10. I am good at reading people.
