I was so happy to hear from Wires (the local wildlife carer society) about the orphaned joey that we brought to care last week. She even sent photos of him. Here he is grooming his new little friend. (Check out the baby wallaby in the pouch behind them).
If you want to read about how we found him and his previous story go here. You can also find out why we called him Rose Petal.
This is what the carer said about Rose Petal.
He is a little Red-Necked Pademelon about 7 months old. Although he would be what is called an “at foot” joey he would still would have been very dependent on mum’s milk for quite some time yet. He had become debilitated in the time he had spent without his mum and required rehydration and intensive care.
It is now 10 days since he was brought into care and he has settled well with the other pademelons already in care. He is seen below with one of his favourite buddies orphaned after her mum was killed by a car.
She said that Rose Petal is going really well. I am so happy.
